Live Television on the Amateur Radio Bands!
Amateur Television is one of the most exotic modes on the Amateur Radio Service. You can transmit LIVE video and sound within the amateur radio spectrum.
The Amateur Television Network (ATN) was started by a group at ATVers in Southern California. It grew from one ATV repeater to a NETWORK of linked repeaters known as the Amateur Television Network. The ATN then branched out to Nevada (Las Vegas) and to several repeaters in Arizona.
Through contacts make on the internet and at the Dayton Hamvention the ATN started other state chapters to include Northern California, Florida, Delaware, Kentucky, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana. New Mexico, and Washington. As the ATN grew the groups in Arizona and Nevada became their own chapters. Some chapters are still around and functional, others sadly have folded up shop and moved on.

Hi everyone,
As most of you probably are aware, our most entertaining and robust Tuesday Evening ATN Net control operator, Roland Hoffman, KC6JPG, became a Silent Key on February 24, 2026.
On March 28 there will be a Celebration of His Life service at the Water of Life Community Church in Fontana. This is the church that he attended and was a key person in their Audio/Visual Technical Arts Department. The service will start at 11:00 AM. The address of the church is: 7625 East Ave., Fontana, CA. Chris and I will be there and I am hoping as many as possible will be able to make it. We want to let Roland's family know just how much he meant to his Ham Radio Family, as he use to always say it. Another way that we can let the family know is by clicking on the link in the red box below. This will take you to a form where you can put some words to the family and just what Roland meant to you as an individual and maybe to our organization also. Where it asks for your name, please also put your call sign followed by "— ATN" (without the quotations). This way, if we have enough of a response, we may be able put all of ours together in a separate book for the family.

From the days of a single repeater into the 80's, it was analog equipment with NTSC standard definition consumer and prosumer cameras. Our Amiga graphics computer was cutting edge at the time presenting these 720 x 480 graphics. The changes of the 90's and into the new millennium transition from 4:3 aspect ratio CRT screens to 16:9 wide screen format video technology up to 1920x1080 resolution. The ATN continues to upgrade towards digital technology.
